Helena Petrovna Blavatsky helped to make the mysteries of spirituality combined with science familiar to the world. "Through this, she heightened the interest in The Theosophical Society. Men and women of note thronged her rooms in New York. With Henry Steel Olcott, William Quan Judge and others she founded the Theosophical Society in September 1875. The Society was to be truly eclectic and without distinctions. Several meetings were held to frame and pass Rules, and the present emblem was adopted. On 17 November 1875 Colonel Henry Steel Olcott gave his Inaugural Address, and this date was considered as the Foundation Day of the Theosophical Society. In 1877, H.P. Blavatsky published Isis Unveiled, which, she said, was 'the fruit of somewhat intimate acquaintance with Eastern adepts and study of their science'. Its success was immediate throughout the world. Persons of note in many countries were interested; some joined and became well known in the Society. Her writings connecting esoteric spiritual knowledge with new science may be considered to be the first instance of a systematic attempt to bridge the gap between science and spirituality" (Wikipedia).
Mystic Tiger Ashram, though not affiliated with the Theosophical Society per se, practices the marriage of spirituality with science as many other great teachers of today, such as Deepak Chopra. The founder of the Mystic Tiger Ashram is a descendent of the Theosophical Society lineage. Peace....

Katherine Tingley founded and led the Theosophical community Lomaland in San Diego, California.
In 1896 Tingley became the new head of the organization, although her identity was concealed for one year. On February 13, 1900, she transferred the Society's international headquarters from New York City to a new colony she called Lomaland, located in the Point Loma community of San Diego, California. Her settlement included Raja-Yoga School and College, Theosophical University, and the School for the Revival of the Lost Mysteries of Antiquity.[1]

"I have enjoyed reading this book...
This book has helped me in areas that my spiritual teacher has not. I have been in a temple for over three years as a monk, vegetarian and celibate, and do everything just as I am supposed to do but nothing has happened for me yet spiritually. My teachers tell me that in time things will change, but I question that, I can't help it. I have been reading this book - part two - and the things that the Swami talks about are what I have been thinking already in my meditations, but the monastery that I live in thinks differently on. I don't know yet if this will help me, but am willing to try because what she is saying just makes perfect sense. I cannot resist trying it. I don't know if it is different that she is a woman? Anyway, so far it resonates with my inner knowing and will pursue it. If it helps me in the long run then there is no harm. Truth is stronger than dogma."
