About Us...

A Spiritual Haven for All People and for All Times!
.
What makes us unique...

The Mystic Tiger Ashram is unique in that most of it's visitors prefer not to choose any particular religious, or spiritual path of prescribed beliefs. Swami does not operate by, nor prescribe to any one set dogmas that may include ritual food choices, dressing, and personally chosen behaviors, the way most institutions do. The only rule is that each visitor respect all of the other individuals here. Swami Rajakumara's students practice the path of freedom to explore what sets them apart as individuals, and learn to trust their inner leanings toward what comes naturally to them. Each person's goal is to discover who and what they are spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically. This path of self-discovery is invigorating and empowering to those who follow it and has been known to connect us to that inner child who needs this type of healing, and also to the higher, or spiritual self who desires a divine connection. Swami has many people from all walks of life pass through her doors and Swami is supportive of those who chose to follow their own traditional religious paths as well with a general supportive energy given to each separate person.

Mission Statement

Swami Rajakumara PunarjAta Ardhanarishvara

Director of
Mystic Tiger Ashram

Swami Rajakumara PunarjAta Ardhanarishvara created the Ashram in 2010, after teaching her own methods, eastern philosophies, world religions, and initiating students into spiritual practice since January of 1998. Swami's birth name in Sanskrit means Royal, Reborn, Goddess Parvati, wife of Shiva, and is a Maharaja, or Maharajin reincarnated.

Mystic Tiger Ashram

Swami has been providing a quality education in World religions, self-empowerment, mastery, self-realization, spiritual and healing subjects to many seekers over the years.

Swami (her preferred greeting), teaches a combination of eastern philosophies (Vedanta Hinduism, or Self-Realization, and Mindfulness techniques) combined with Christian mysticism, western psychology, brainwave physiology, and offers initiation into Dzogchen Samadhi Nirvana Yoga meditation (Deep trance cessation connection to the Divine), bringing a much needed new viewpoint to the concept of 'spirituality' and healthy living.

This form of Enlightenment, or Dialectical Behavioral Therapy has helped many individuals to become free of dogma and stress over the years. This is the science of Spirit without the un-empowering encumbrances of religious dogma. This Empowering combination of teachings draws an individual into a permanent state Self-Realization, and Peace while feeling the freedom to live as their own nature and their own God dictates to them. This initiation connects them to their 'God', or Divine Connection.

Swami offers her Dzogchen/Shaktipat Initiation to those who feel led to obtain it for their Spiritual Development. Often times students decide to receive training offered by Swami after an initiation, though it is not necessary for it to benefit them. Donations are encouraged, as this initiation is a lot of work for Swami, who has to completely clean your energy, mental, and physical body's blockages that would otherwise stand in the way of the adept receiving the full blessing - to make you a clean vessel to house these energies. Swami shares her divine state with the receiver of the initiation, so it can take a lot out of her depending upon your degree of need.

Mystic Tiger Ashram (History)

Spirit directs Swami to help as many individuals as she can to become enlightened and begin a path of mastery over the self, depression and difficulties which life deals to us all. Swami has been a yogini for over 25 years, but on a spiritual path since the age of eight in 1970. She has experienced ecstatic spiritual states (Peak Experiences - Abraham Maslow, Cosmic Consciousness) since before she was eight years old. Swami's greatest calling is to help others become liberated of internal turmoil and conflict over personal rights and wrongs, mistakes and shortcomings.

Swami is of Celtic origin, and her ancestors were of the Dumnonii tribe in Scotland, dating back to the year one CE. Her current life-cycle began on Beltane (May Day), a very significant and sacred Celtic holiday when April meets May. She is also a Walk-in Soul who entered her current body on Samhain eve (Halloween), and on the day of her conception there had been a Annular Eclipse very near the noon hour just 3 months prior to the birth of the Age of Aquarius; in the last year of the Age of Pisces. As a result, Swami practices Celtic Holidays, much like many indigenous Spiritual people around the globe, which carries deep meaning to her current journey, and her role as an ancient Sumerian of Anunnaki origins, who has taken a human vessel to effect change within this current cycle on earth.

She is an Eastern, as well as Western, Self-Help teacher and avatar (see bio). Her path is very similar to that of the Dali Lama, with the exception that she is from the west and is primarily Mystic Christian, Taoist and Hindu, rather than Buddhist. Swami spent many years learning Christian theology, and protestant beliefs, as well as working actively in the Christian ministry.

Swami studied from Yogi Master Elinore Hill of the Theosophical Society in California 1996 until her death in 2003. Upon being released from studies in 1998 due to personal mastery gained in her lifelong studies of religion, meditation and now in yogi philosophy, Hill encouraged Swami teach. Swami became a teacher of yogi philosophy and theosophy at this time. At Hill's behest, as well as her own life-long calling, Swami dedicated herself to a path of self realization. She knew that nothing else would satisfy her longing of full union with the divine. Hill had recognized that Rajakumara had achieved cosmic consciousness, God consciousness and other states of mastery before and over the time of her very rigorous training with Hill. Swami then took a yogi name and began writing and teaching right away.

In her studies Swami covered the materials of Yogi Ramacharaka and other writers who were also decedents of the school of thought provided by Theosophy. Other studies included but were not limited to Joseph Campbell, and Deepak Chopra's many works. She has been teaching yogi philosophy as well as her own methods of clearing the mind of excess chatter for over 22 years.

Yoga Master Elinore Hill, studied from teachers in the Theosophical Society also. She was a student of Pastor/Rev. Davis of San Diego California for many many years.

History of the Theosophical Society which began in 1846

In 1846, Modern Spiritualism had it beginnings in the United States in New York. The Spiritualism movement had been in Europe before the coming to the United States. The Theosophical Society, founded by Madam Elena Petrovna Blavatsky in 1875, furthered the spread of Spiritualism.

The history of Spiritualism in San Diego began in the Point Loma area in 1881. It was in that year that the group of wives of Portuguese fishermen began holding regular prayer meetings and meditation groups in their homes. There was a medium among the wives. Continued below...

History Continued...

The group continue to grow and formally organized in 1885. According to records, it was formed for religious social and benevolent purposes. The organization was called "The First Spiritual Society." Monumental Hall, located above Marstons, on Sixth Street in San Diego, was the first formal meeting place.

In 1886, the incorporation papers were filed with the city clerk. The object, as it was announced, was "not for pecuniary advantage or gain, but for advancement of truth, right and freedom of conscious and progress." Its organizers were prominent spiritualists in San Diego.

In the same year, the meeting place was changed to LaFayette Hall on Fifth Street in downtown San Diego. By this time, there was also children's lyceum. The women's auxiliary was called "The Busy Bee."

In October of 1898, Mrs. Leo Prior of Salem Oregon, and the late professor of the Spiritualist Church in Atlanta Georgia, became the pastor. The following year, 1899, Mrs. Abby Sheets of Grand Lodge Michigan became the pastor of the church. That year the fifty-first anniversary of Spiritualism was celebrated.

Mrs. Hildred followed Mrs. Sheets as pastor. She was pastor for eighteen years.

In 1902, Captain Henry F. Fellows, in his will, bequeathed two thousand dollars to the First Spiritual Society. He had been a long-time member of the society. After much litigation, the Spiritual Society received the money. The money was applied toward the purchase of a piece of property north of the B Street School at 1240 Seventh Avenue in San Diego.

On March 29, 1903, the cornerstone of the new Spiritualist Temple was laid during the impressive ceremony.

When completed, the Spiritualist Temple had two stories. The first story had an assembly hall and a recreation room on either side of the hall. There were also a library, kitchen and reception room on the first floor. This floor was opened to the public in September 1903.

The second floor auditorium was dedicated in March of 1904. The opening coincided with the fifty-seventh year of spiritualism in the United States. The entire building cost about six thousand dollars.

The money to build the temple was raised in the variety of ways. Some came as gifts, other from bazaars held by the Busy Bees. Concerts were also held as fund raisers.

The Spiritual Society continued to meet in the Seventh Street Temple until 1950. At the same time, the Seventh Street Property was sold and a Christian Science Reading Room located on Forty-Second Street in San Diego was purchased. Pastor Emily Davis had not really planned on moving the church at this time, but opportunity surprisingly presented itself. The full price of the property was paid in cash so there were no debts when the church was moved. The First Spiritualist Church has been there since that time.

Pastor Davis stated that during the World War II the building had been a nylon factory before becoming a Christian Science Reading Room. She chose this site for two main reasons. One was that it was out of the main stream of business and the other was because of the high amount of psychic energy located there. (It is a psychic pressure point.) Today it is no longer out of the main steam of traffic, but the energy remains constantly high.

In 1930, The First Spiritual Society changed their name to the First Spiritualist Church. This was also the year the First Spiritualist Church celebrated its sixty-fifth anniversary.

The Spiritualist Church belonged to several different Spiritualist Societies since its inception. The National Spiritualist Association which later became the National Spiritualist Association of Churches was one of the earliest associations to which the First Spiritualist Church belonged. The church was also a member of the California Branch, C.S.S.A. The church left this organization in 1934.

According to staff members, Pastor Emily Davis was on the Supreme Council of the Federation of Spiritualist Churches to which the church belonged during the pastorship. She attended annual meetings of the society.

Until 1944, there was a strict dress code for the platform workers (Message Bearers as they were called then). Women were required to wear long dresses and men wore suits and ties.

During Reverend Emily Davis' pastorship, 1950-1975, classes were not allowed to be held in the church building. Both she and Reverend Roberta Johnson, Pastor from 1976-1980, held classes at their homes as well as in the recreation hall in the Landis Park located a short distance from the church.

At this time, also, in order to attend classes, one had to be appointed to do so. The classes were not open as they are now. When Reverend Roberta Johnson became the pastor, some classes were partially opened, but most still remained closed to the general congregation.

Now classes are now held in Johnson Hall which was built in 1977. Johnson Hall on the church property and was built, for the most part, by the members of the church. When completed, the building was dedicated to Pastor Roberta Johnson. The library was dedicated to Pastor Emily Davis.

After Pastor Roberta's death, Reverend Barbara Kline became the pastor late in 1980. When she resigned in 1989, Reverend James Smith was elected by the board to be a pastor. Work commitments caused him to resign in October of 1992. Reverend Billie Baker became an acting pastor until the board elected Reverend Pearl Filgo in January of 1993. After Rev. Pearl Filgo resigned in 1993, Rev. Janelva Young was the Pastor from 1995 to 2001. Rev. Debra Feldman was Pastor from January 2001 to December 2004. Rev. Doris Horvath has been Pastor since December 2004.

The purpose of spiritualism is to promote the continuity of life. As early as 1899, when Mrs. Eldred taught courses in the occult sciences, the classes have reflected this purpose.

Some of the other classes that have been taught at the church are: Herbology, Spiritual Law, Astral Projection, Trance, Alpha Thinking, Tarot and Astrology. Recently classes have included, Spiritual Healing Law, Psychic Development, Numerology, Yuen Method Healing, Reiki Healing, Dream Interpretation, Psychic Art, and Speech 10l.

To promote friendship and love, the First Spiritualist Church has held psychic fairs, Barb-Q and spaghetti dinners and pot luck dinners. Parties to celebrate various holidays such as Christmas and Easter are traditional.

The First Spiritualist Church holds regular worship services on Sunday morning. Healing services precede the worship services. The First Spiritualist Church of San Diego has had a long and colorful history. It has played a major role in the history of spiritualism in San Diego for more than one hundred years. It has progressed with the times, seeing many changes in San Diego as well as within its own parameters.

Due to an individual's emotional and spiritual readiness, Swami cannot work with all applicants for training one on one. Some individuals are not ready for the necessary commitment that is required for mastery training. Swami will direct any who apply through the proper specialized training program, which may eventually lead to mastery training, after proper assimilation of lessons is evident in one's life. It is possible for training to last for many years as individuals are unique and different from all other individuals.

With serious study, no-nonsense self-introspection and daily meditation any person may achieve the personal goals that they have set for themselves for spiritual mastery, given the proper teacher. Swami can 'see' through your defenses and help you to master your behaviors. Peace and many blessings on your spiritual quest.
